Is one of the 100 selected cities in the EU’s Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission. Riga is currently implementing a LEZ in the city centre, introducing a bicycle traffic plan and improving the walkability in the city, focusing on promoting soft mobility options. Creation of a mobility point, as well as development of sustainable urban freight concept are under way, Riga is also aiming for a regional public transport network, connecting the urban with the peri-urban area in an integrated way. Riga wants to learn more about the consultations platforms and processes established in GOLIA’s partner city cases. As a relatively smaller capital city in the North-Eastern region of Europe, Riga will enrich the project with the perspective of a Baltic urban node. Furthermore, the similarities and differences between the two port cities – Riga and Antwerp – can be explored and enrich the project’s results.
